Tariffying Consequences

Immediately after Trump set tariffs on Canadian, Mexican and Chinese imports, the threat of higher auto prices reared its head, stocks fell, and industry professionals expressed fears of a North American auto manufacturer shutdown. In response to these tariff’s, Canada has responded by specifically targeted products to tariff in red states. Trade wars don’t help anyone in the short term, and considering how averse Republicans are to short-term higher costs to do things like protect the environment, it’s doubtful that they will be okay with short-term price increases that Trump has indicated will be necessary to carry out his “plans”, whatever those may be.
